One more legislative day! This Monday, May 19, the Alabama Legislature will reconvene for its last day of the 2008 Legislative Session. Several bills are pending in both the House and the Senate that of great concern to those of us in the faith community. Please look over the following list and contact your Representative and/or Senator and encourage him/her to vote on these bills in the manner suggested below. In the SENATEAsk your Senator to vote "YES" on the following bills:
HB 76, Fite, Obscene material to a child penalty.
HB77, Dunn, Ignition interlock device.
HB 90, Graham, Student suicide prevention.
HB 92, Millican, Soliciting child for sexual conduct penalty.
HB 174, Hurst, Drivers suspension for drug and alcohol offenses.
HB 276, Ison, Sex offenders restricted on college property.
HB 332, Galliher, Criminal sex offenders penalty.
Ask your Senator to vote "NO" on the following bills:
HB 196, Jackson, Higher alcohol content in beer.
HB 393, Martin, Eliminate municipal population requirement wet/dry.
HB 829, Holmes, Hate crime bill includes sexual orientation.
In the HOUSEAsk your Representative to vote "YES" on the following bills:
